An Old Christning Photo

My hope is that this photo will support or refute those statements that Jack and I looked the
same at this age. This was cropped from the following photo.

I'm completely blown away at how young Grandma and Grandpa Shell looked; my guess is that Grandpa was around 28 and Grandma was around 25. Uncle John would've been three years older than me.

Train Trip to Iowa

May 17, 2005

And so it begins...

After living here in the new house for two-thirds of a year, I finally broke down and mowed my very own lawn for the first time ever. Out of the numerous lawnmowers found in the basement when we moved in (one gas, one electric, and two or three push-mowers) I was able to get the gas mower up and running after a few days of tinkering. I feel like Tim Allen.

Note: the piles of branches are from the bushes coming down in preparation for the new garage. Thanks for the use of the chainsaw, Lou. Sabine really enjoyed it.

Olivya's Christening

On the morning of May 15, 2005, the Yager clan and Shells represented by Lee and Larry Sr., along with the chosen God Parents, Leighton and Sabine, made the trek to Saint Maria Goretti Parish in Madison Wisconsin.

The God Parents designate prior to the ceremony.

Deacon Jerome pours the holy water on Livy's head.

And no ceremony would be complete without the proud grand parents.

Spring Break

After my Spring semester from hell ended I took a little trip out to Denver to visit Scott Harvey. He and his wife moved out there last September. Thanks to Laura's SkyAuction.com website I was able to get cheap tickets flying out of Rockford on Hooter's Air. No hot wings on the flight, though. Had lots of fun (went on tours of both the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO and the Celestial Seasonings tea factory (?) in Boulder, CO) and came back feeling recharged and ready for summer classes. While there I got to see Scott and Denise's new weiner-dog, President John F. Kennedy (long joke story there), or Jack for short.

Mother's Day Brunch

Leighton and Sabine host another wonderful brunch.

Although Grandma looks sad, she was actually quite happy.

Only six more weeks until Father's Day!
