Back from Camp
Pops and I returned from a successful week of Junior Camp. Had a blast with 14 kids from around the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Michigan. Was thinking that if Leighton had enough vacation time he might want to think about joining us next year for the week. Look for photos to be posted soon. Ask me about the Jell-o Olympics. The dogs also enjoyed their vacation. One month to Alaska!
Junior Camp, June 19-24, 2005 Photos

The Lodge on the left, and the Recreation Hall on the right. The porch on the right side of the Lodge continues to the rear and runs the length of the rear of the building. About half of the porch constitutes "The Infirmary" as well as Renz's quarters.

My quarters were upstairs and on the lake side of the building. This is the view through my window. On a clear night, the moon was reflected on the lake surface and shined into my room onto the wall and ceiling as if from a shaky street light.

Our "chapel" was in fact a functioning Episcopal Church located on our camp grounds. "Oh come to the church in the wild wood ...".

The "Get-The-Kids-Attention" bell, the front of the chow hall, and the row of cabins for female campers. The cabins for male campers are about 100 yards to the left out, out of the picture, beyond the 8 foot cyclone fence with the electrified concertina razor wire on top.

A group photo with the 14 young people, the 4 counselors, the 3 "deans", 2 associate camp directors (one of which is Renz, the camp nurse), and the 1 waterfront director. A total of 10 adults to supervise 14 young people. A ratio which makes the insurance company happy. Renz and I are at the left.

Not what I was hoping for...
Well, I was hoping to be able to post a nice picture of the Oak Park Public Library and have Lou add the link to its webpage URL to the list of job links. I'm not able to do that, though. I just got the call from Oak Park Public Library. I did not get the automation librarian position. Kay Speyer, the HR manager, called and she was very nice. She said that it was down to me and someone else who had a slight edge by having worked in libraries before. She did say that I impressed the entire panel of people I interviewed with, and that she felt that the automation position would have been a waste of my talent. She wants to stay in touch for future openings at OPPL. I have applied to a few other places, like Roosevelt University in Chicago and a couple of other public libraries in the area. I'll keep everyone posted.

American Cancer Society Walk-

Laura and Ruben walked in honor of Ruben's mom and Grandma Shell and raised hundreds of dollars for the cause.

Gramps at 1 year ±

Another photo to be compared to young Jack. I'm guessing that I was somewhere around 1 year old. I notice that my hair style is popular with Jack.

Project Garage
Concrete guys came out last week and dug up the yard in preparation for the new garage. They're back out today laying the concrete. I know, it's a boring picture. What do you want? We don't have kids.

Some more old pics...
As long as we're posting old pictures, here are a few more that I scanned in back when the house had the fire.
Mom and Dad's Wedding Party

Mom and Dad's Wedding Pic

And some really old wedding pic. I don't know the details, but I think Grandma Shell is one of the bride's maids on the right half of the picture.

Enjoy. I have these as larger images on my computer if anyone is interested.
