Happy 10th Anniversary

This post goes out primarily to Sabine, but it’s for the whole family as well. I know our wedding anniversary is not for another two months. We’ve been celebrating our first date anniversary for longer than we’ve been married, so it is a hard habit to break. Where did the past ten years go? It seems like it wasn’t that long ago that I took Sabine on our first date to go see the movie Dangerous Minds. That was August 28, 1995. Granted, we actually met on August 23, but it’s the first date that matters. Here are a couple of pictures from back when Sabine was only a 19-year-old au-pare visiting America, and I was only 25. I have a much longer slideshow available for anyone who is interested available here. I love you, Cutie-Pie. It’s been a wonderful ten years.

Home Sale Update

Everything looks like a go. I had a full price offer on my home in the first 24 hours of "showings." They had their inspection last night and everything appears to have been acceptable. All that remains is for both appraisals to occur and then set a closing date for both properties. That will be no later than September 16th and could be a bit sooner. I'm currently collecting bids from moving companies. Can't wait to have visitors. Check out the photos below to see the new digs.

Library Internship

Just in case I haven't mentioned it to everyone, I am currently working a three-month paid internship with the Pritzker Military Library in Chicago. It's a really nice small library focusing on military items. So far I've been working on the preliminary stages of a digitization project where we will make digital images of old posters and prints and stuff and have them available in a virtual library. I've also been getting some real world cataloging experience, which should help when I start going on interviews for full-time jobs. There is a small possibility this could evolve into a full-time job, but I'm not planning on it. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the morning commute with Sabine. Her office is only a few blocks away, so we take the same train in and walk together. You can click on the linked text above or go to www.pritzkermilitarylibrary.org for more information on the library.

A busy August 4th

What a busy day, August 4, 2005. Jack turned 6 months old, Gracie turned 8 years old, and Grandma Lee and Grandpa Larry celebrated the 43rd anniversary of their wedding. At this time in 1962, we were already married and were getting ready to go to the wedding reception which began at 6:00 pm.

Alaskan Tour 2005

The eleven member crew of the Alaskan Tour 2005, all wearing their caps and rain jackets with the family logo embroidered on each. This photo was taken the day before we disembarked in Seward and were transported by bus to the Anchorage Intl. Airport.

This was the logo designed by Angie and placed on our tee shirts, caps, and rain jackets.
