B U L L E T I N * B U L L E T I N * B U L L E T I N

It has come to my attention that my little girl's birthday came and went without any kind of notation on the family web site, let alone a cutsie old photo of her.

Well I aim to remedy that oversight.

Happy birthday Laura from your loving mom & dad!!

It's Official

The diploma has arrived. I have officially graduated from Dominican University's Graduate School of Library and Information Science. It wasn't too bad. I started in January 2004. Took two classes my first semester, two in the first half of the summer and one in the second half. Took three classes in the fall and two more this past spring. Finally, I took two more this past summer and graduated August 2005. I also got to work as a graduate assistant for Dr. Gertrude Koh where I learned even more. I'll have to update my resume, but with any luck this internship at the Pritzker Military Library will turn into a regular job when the three months are up. There was no ceremony for summer graduates, but I'll have the option of walking in the January 2006 ceremony for fall graduates.

This Must Be The Season For New Homes!!

(From Sara Shell Yager)
Hello Everyone!

As most of you know, Tom, Olivya, and I are moving into our new home as of this coming Friday! I have attached a picture of our home. ...

...we have been laying laminate hardwood flooring in our home and trying to pack. We hate packing, so we have been putting it off. I would like to give you our new address and phone number. Our phone will be hooked up on Monday, September 26th in the morning.

I also have included [a] Livy picture[]. She is 6 months now and a wild child! She is starting to sit by herself alittle and trying to crawl.

She loves her veggies and hates her fruit...she does however love popsicles!

Visit to Woodstock

After many years of hard work, Derek and Amy have finished restoring their house and it looks fantastic.

And they finished just in time for the arrival of their son, Christopher - born just two weeks after Jackson.

Robert and Traudl Krauss Visit

Sabine's mom and dad came to stay with us for three weeks. They flew in on August 17 and stayed through September 7. While here they got to do some fun stuff. Sabine took them to Galena, Illinois for a few days, and they stayed at the the Richards House bed and breakfast in Dubuque, Iowa. We bought them tickets to go see The Lion King in Chicago, which they enjoyed very much. And before leaving they got to take in some live jazz at the Chicago Jazz Festival. In between they got to visit with the family, meet Jackson, go to the Irish Times, and other stuff. They also helped out around the house by fixing various things like the fence, the back door, etc. It was a very fun visit and we were very sad when they had to leave. Here are just a few pictures from their visit.

Cheeks Meets The Chunk

Great-aunt Suzi came to visit Jack (our Chunk) with Adam Gilley (their Cheeks and Jack's second cousin), and Great-grandma Mary. We had a ball, but the boys were bored with each other. Both were more focused on the saucers and the pups.

Chicago International Toy and Game Fair 2005

This year was the third year of the Chicago International Toy and Game Fair. This game fair is modeled on the huge game fairs held in Germany every year. Andrew and I took the train in and hung out. Geoffrey and his girlfriend, Yukiko, met us there in the afternoon. We were able to play some of the games and hang out and have a lot of fun. Geoffrey and Yukiko learned how to play Carcassone. Andrew beat the tar out of me at Roma. And to top it off, the weather was beautiful for strolling along Navy Pier. All in all, it was a really fun day.
