I Think I'd Rather Be In COLORADO!!

On June 10th, Bus 8569 was parked at the depot by10:30 am, I got home by 10:50 am, and by Noon we were loaded up and on our way Westward to visit The Yagers of Greeley, CO.

When Sara sent photos of Bella, their Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix, a 7 mo. puppy, neither of the photos did her justice. She has a face that melts one's heart. She is all black with a white patch on her chest.

She has just a hint of an under bite which gives her an almost petulant look.

One highlight of our trip was traveling to Rocky Mountain National Park and driving up to a recently opened for Spring, mountain pass at the 10100 foot level.

We took the two dogs and traveled in "The Tank." Of course, we traveled "Italian Style" with the men up front, and the ladies in the rear.

The scenery was fantastic, highlighted by an incredible blue sky without a cloud.

The snow had been trampled too much to make a snow angel, but Nana was able to make a good snowball. A second and a half after I shot this photo, she threw a perfect pass, hitting me right on "the numbers."

At Tom and Sara's house it was around 80°, but at the 10100 foot level the the temperature had dropped to 45°. Out came the jackets and sweatshirts. Tom and I thought we would walk the dogs a bit, but were reminded by others that the indicated sign said, "No Dogs On The Trail". The dogs didn't mind. It was sufficient just to be out of the car.

We were all worn out. Livy's queen size bed was perfect for Nana, Bella, Tristan, and the guy taking the photo.

On Father's Day, we bummed around Fort Collins, and celebrated the day with Mexican fare along with the Yagers of Greeley, Colorado. It was Sara's treat for the dads.

Summer Safety

Now that the Summer heat is here, remember that it's important to not exert yourself too much. Find a nice comfortable spot to take a break...

...like a shoe tray...

...or a bathroom sink.

Try to stay out of the sun in some natural shade...

...or even some man-made shade.

Walk & Roll Chicago 2008

I realized that I never posted a follow up to my March post about me taking part in the 2008 Walk & Roll Chicago 15-mile bike ride. It was a beautiful day in Chicago, and I got up bright and early and biked to the Berwyn train station only to be told by the conductor that they were maxed out on bicycles. I went home and decided to do the 5-mile walk instead. Sabine kindly drove me into the city and instead of walking the 5-mile walk, a coworker and I decided to run it. Thanks again to those who donated. I think the American Cancer Society are still accepting donations, so the title link should still work. Here are a couple of pictures from the day.
