Something to Cheer Up Livy

I was thinking about Livy and missing her because I couldn't attend her 4th birthday party. So here's something to brighten her day until we can come out to Greeley this summer.

Easter Saturday in Western Springs

Easter Saturday was held at Nanna and Boompa's house in Western Springs. There was lots of good food and an Easter Egg hunt.

Goodbye, Skunk. We'll miss you.

Sabine and I took Skunk to see Dr. Costa today. She was able to give us a couple more months with him, but it was time to say goodbye. He was a great cat. From the day he showed up on our deck in Woodridge in 2001 he was friendly and affectionate. We're glad he found us and stayed.

I took a vacation day today so I could stay home with Skunk until we took him to the vet. I took this picture this morning.

Here he is a couple of days ago when the weather was nice enough to go outside for a bit. He always loved roaming around the backyard and never jumped the fence. He was content to nibble on the grass and sniff around the yard.

Here are a few random pics from the past eight years.

2009 Shamrock Shuffle 8K Race

So I ran the Shamrock Shuffle 8K (5-mile) race again this year. And the weather was just a little bit uncooperative. We got a late March snow storm Saturday night and it was still snowing Sunday morning. Big, fat, wet flakes of snow. On the ground it turned to slush. Needless to say, it made for an interesting run. Over 30,000 people signed up for the race. About 13,700 actually ran it. I was one of them. Here are a few pictures from the event.

Here's me before the race, walking from the parking garage to the race start area. It was so nasty, I had to actually do all my stretching in the garage.

Here's me just after the start of the race. Sabine came with me and took the pictures.

Here's me after the race back at the parking garage...soggier, colder, but feeling pretty good.

Here's a picture I found on Flickr that I downloaded. I don't think I'm in it, but it really shows how bad the day was.

In the end I ran it it 45:27 which was not as fast as last year. But I think if the weather had been better I would have beat my time.
