Hollywoodland (2006)

Netflix Rental
Leighton: *** ; Mom/Pop: ***
I'm only guessing at what star-count Mom and Pop would give this movie. They both enjoyed it, but didn't mention how many stars they would give it.

We both enjoyed Hollywoodland, but Lou and Angie said it was only okay. It didn't/couldn't clear up the mystery and Dad was left thinking he really did commit suicide. We enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff of Hollywood at the time of the big studio control, the damage type-casting did to Reeves' career, and his behind the character of Superman personality. I was sad thinking about him and Christopher Reeve. So go ahead and post our favorable review.
I also liked it. I've been a big fan of Adrien Brody ever since I saw him in Summer of Sam. I've never been much of a fan of Ben Affleck but I even think he did a pretty good job. The cutting back and forth between the investigation and George Reeves' life was a little uneven at first, but I got used to it. I also love the movies showing LA/Hollywood in the fifties. I still need to see The Black Dahlia, but I know it didn't get very good reviews.
