I was holding off posting, since the movie was making the rounds around the family. I think now Lou, Ang, Mom, and Dad have all seen it and can post follow-up comments.
Sabine and I mostly enjoyed this movie. It was very moody and had a great cast including Hugh Jackman (X-Men), Christian Bale (Batman Begins), and Michael Caine (Secondhand Lions). Two 19th century magicians with a bitter rivalry try to out-do each other both on stage and off. The movie is full of twists and misdirection, but Sabine and I were both a little disappointed by one of the final twists, which I won't reveal here. Directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins).

All and all, Lee (mom) and I enjoyed it. I know what you mean by the "questionable" inclusion of Nicola Tessla and his machine. However, its inclusion gave the surprise ending its BANG!
Wow...I just got to see this: I do love this type of movie. Seems a little reminiscent to the 1953 Houdini movie with Tony Curtis. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
